Tubular air heating elements

Backer manufactures tubular air heating elements for use in many different appliances, such as electrical water heaters, dishwashers and washing machines, boilers, coffee machines, fryers, industrial baths and oil filled radiators.

The Backer tubular heating element is the most frequent alternative for liquid heating. We manage a large number of production techniques, giving a chose within a widre range of element types. An optimal heat solution of an application is decided by user environment and operating temperature. You can from Backer for instance have an element with an operating temperature of as much as 900°C.

Fin strip elements

Tubular element with diam. 8.5 mm and 14 mm can be fitted with fins, stripped vertically on the element. The fins increase the radiating area and reduce the surface temperature on the element without loosing heat transfer. Alternatively higher surface temperature can be used to decrease the size of the element. The heating element can be manufactured connection at one or two ends.

Brick element

 

Heating element with dia. 8.5 mm and 14 mm can be fitted with fins to increase their heat dissipation surfaces. Fins are available in steel for soldering or in aluzinc for press-fitting to tubular elements of 8.5 mm diam. Fins in aluzinc are available for tight-fitting to element of 14 mm diam.

Fixing and connection devices

Savings in cost can often be made if elements are fitted with connection and fixing devices during manufacturing. Below you find the most frequent alternatives, which could be considered standard. We can also supply special flanges and alternative methods of fixing made completely to our clients' specifications.

When selecting connection and fixing devices it is often important to bear in mind the size of the series.

Types of cables and wiring

The heating elements may be supplied with connecting wiring which is normally spot welded  to the terminal pins. Uninsulated as well as insulated wiring is avaliable. Uninsulated wiring can be fitted with insulative tubung. The joint between the wiring and the terminal pin can also be fitted with insulative tubing if required.
